Lake Rules

The Fly Lake

  • Opening time: 7:30am - Dusk

  • Flies ONLY (No spinner, worms or maggot)

  • Barbed Hooks Only

  • Minimum 5lb leader

  • STRICTLY NO CATCH AND RELEASE

  • Only the ticket purchaser is entitled to fish on his/her ticket (No sharing tickets between two people). Once an angler has reached their catch limit they are not permitted to physically assist other anglers to reach theirs.

  • All anglers must be equipped with a landing net and a dispatching cosh. 

  • Any anglers under the age of 18 - Must be accompanied by an adult

  • All litter is to be taken off site (This includes cigarette ends)

  • Well behaved dogs are welcome (although must be kept on a lead at all times and must be picked up after)

  • All anglers must have the appropriate EA Certified license to fish this lake​

  • All fishing must be pre-booked. Please do not enter the premises without prior arrangement, we take last minute bookings!

  • Non-fishing visits to check conditions must be prearranged. Our Health and Safety Policy does not allow unauthorised access at any point.

These rules are put in place for everyone's benefit as well as to look after our stock. Blatant disregard of these rules will result in anglers being asked to leave the premises or worse barred from returning.

The Carp Lake Rules

Carp Lake Rules
▪ All arrival/ Departure times are 12 midday, please do not arrive any earlier than 11.00am.
▪ Catch and release ONLY – Removal of fish from site will result in prosecution.
▪ ONLY unhooking mats, weigh slings and landing nets provided by the fishery are to be used, all such personally
owned equipment is not permitted on site for biosecurity reasons. NO EXCEPTIONS.
▪ All rods must be of a standard suitable for specimen carp e.g. No telescopic rods, poles, match rods, small river
rods, beach/sea rods or fly rods (branded carp telescopic rods such as Nash scope & Fox EOS X are fine)
▪ This lake is angler only, (only the ticket holder has the permission to be on the premises) Exceptions can be made
but MUST be cleared with a member of staff before non-angling guests arrive. Anyone arriving without prior
arrangement will be asked to leave.
▪ Minimum 15lb breaking strain main line (NOT BRANDED) ▪ No hooks bigger than a size 4 (BARBLESS OR
MICRO ONLY) ▪ No fixed leads.
▪ All nuts are banned.
▪ No leaders – All leadcore, safe zone or homemade heavy line crimped leaders are banned. - Anglers can use rig
tubing (recommended) or a naked line setup.
▪ No zig rigs.
▪ No artificial baits.
▪ Each angler MUST be equipped with a Carp Care Kit.
▪ No ‘Gill Grabbing’ on any species. We understand that everyone wants to get the perfect photo of their catch,
however, the technique of handling/holding the fish’s gills/gill flaps in an attempt to hide fingers from view is strictly
prohibited for the welfare of our stock.
▪ All fishing is to be carried out by designated swims – This includes the landing and releasing of fish (Unless unsafe
to do so)
▪ Firepit is for lake exclusives only. Logs available to be purchased – ask a member of staff, do NOT help
yourself – Only the fishery firepit is to be used. Please do NOT bring your own.
▪ Portable BBQs are fine, but please keep them off the grass and decking. NOT to be used as a substitute firepit.

▪ No sacking fish for long periods of time. Please ensure all photography is ready for action prior to starting.
▪ All fish are to be returned by net or sling (NOT BY HAND)
▪ Rods are Not to be left unattended – Next swim is fine but be sensible – bring them in for toilet trips/other side of
lake trips. Always make sure receivers have battery charge and work properly!
▪ All litter is to be taken off site. (This includes cigarette ends)
▪ Avoid damaging swim decking by screwing, forcing or hammering bank sticks or pegs between boards. We do not
allow the use of staged stands to be screwed on either. Bank sticks can be firmly placed in gravel with plenty of
clearance over the decking.
▪ No antisocial behaviour – Intoxicated individuals will be asked to leave the premises. You are here to fish, not get
legless!
▪ No ‘normal’ camping tents – Bivvy and brolly systems ONLY.
▪ Well behaved dogs are welcome.
- Please keep dogs on a lead at all times (long lead is fine)
- Dog mess must be picked up immediately.
▪ Any anglers under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult (18 or over)
▪ At no point should an angler deliberately break a line that has become snagged (even if the fish appears to be off).
Staff are on site 24/7 and will be more than happy to boat out and try to solve the problem.
▪ Close the gate. – This prevents otter breaches.
▪ All anglers should have the appropriate EA Certified License to fish the lake.
▪ All fishing must be pre-booked. Please do not enter the premises without prior arrangement. We can take last
minute bookings!
▪ Non-fishing visits to check conditions or pre-baiting etc, must be prearranged. Our Health and Safety Policy
does not allow unauthorised access at any point.

These rules are put in place for everyone’s benefit as well as to look after our stock. Blatant
disregard of these rules will result in anglers being asked to leave the premises (possibly
banned from returning)

Please note that the 'Bank Sticks' are in the gravel instead of screwed into the decking.
